The Spiritual Life
Are believers in Christ supposed to be under the Law or not? And if so, which law? Because there are a number listed in the Bible. It is our conviction that believers have a duty to walk by the law of Christ and live by the Spirit. Yet many today know almost nothing about these basic tenants of the gospel, thinking that because we have been set free from the letter of the Law, that also means we are free from the spirit of the law as well. But this is not the case. So, what is the law of Christ, also known as the law of the Spirit?
Christian Outlaws
Paul says we are no longer under law yet he also says we are under the law of Christ. Which one is right or can both be right?
Bananas for Jesus
The first commandment we have is to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Do we know how to, are we capable of it and do we realise that one day our eternal destiny may depend on how we fulfil this commandment?
The Law of Christ
The second commandment is to love our neighbour as ourselves. Most people tend to assume they are keeping this law. But if we discover how the apostles meant us to keep it we will see a whole different standard of Christian living to what we often know and see today.
Pursuit of the Spiritual Life
A spiritual life should be the goal of every believer. How can we live as free spiritual men in Christ and yet still serve one another in love? And if it would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone around our neck than to put a stumbling block before a brother, do we actually know what such a stumbling block is or could be?
Faith and a Good Conscience
The apostle Paul fought to maintain faith and a good conscience; there is a crucial link between these two things. Faith cannot exist with a defiled conscience yet how many people today have a defiled or seared conscience and assume they're still in faith? This is a serious issue we must be aware of.
